“The art of Cluj. 1920-1940” is a major research, carried by Quadro Gallery, in collaboration with museums, collectors, and a mixed research team, from Romania and abroad.
The research’s aim is a systematical processing of the artistic movement in Cluj from the inter-war period – a period of great importance for this center – and the presentation of these results in a volume and exhibition.
The purpose of the project is to present the artistic life of Cluj during that period in history and to contextualize it in the wider frame of Romanian and Hungarian arts, to integrate it in international context, by showing its statute of the artistic Central and Eastern European centre, with a strong multicultural and multiethnic character, where we can find several stylistic directions of the inter-war arts, between tradition and vanguard.
